Thousands of Germans marching
Meeting near Reichtag-Building the
Guenter Nooke - Berliner CDU Bundestagsabgeordneter
I quickly posted some pictures on this site During the march I had a 10 minute conversation to CDU representative Günter Nooke explaining why many german Pro-Israel-Christians do not really know who to vote for, on coming elections. I pointed out that, not only present arab-friendly SPD government was involved in the support of Mujahedin in Kosovo, and supporting with tanks to Saudi Arabia, despite being in the same alliance, but also CDU agreed on the attack of sovereign Yugoslavia. I warned of this precedence case. I asked
"how can you guaranty, that Nato does not attack Israel someday?".....also
Edmund Stoiber (CDU/CSU) is not clearly pro Israel relating to a recent
TV-Interview, during this Edmund Stoiber questioned the tactics Ariel Sharon
is using to defend his country.
Israelnet.de Germany Newsletter dated August 26th, 2002 Berlin: This Saturday, around 4000 people demonstrated in the Federal capital in favor of Israel and against anti-Semitism: The newspaper BILD covered the demonstration on page 1, and the Jerusalem Post told of the incident in Berlin. From the flooded areas of Saxony alone came hundreds of friends of Israel, though the Federal Association of Jewish Students in Germany distributed leaflets where they "distanced" themselves from this arrangement. Christians and other friends of Israel brought support and solidarity with the State of Israel to expression under the motto "Germany on Israel's Side." Marching through the governmental quarter and neighboring areas, they arrived in front of the Parliamentary buildings, calling for politicians to unequivocally speak up for Israel's right of self-determination and existence, and also to fight any form of anti-Semitism in Germany. [They also demanded] that the media should limit their reporting of the news in the Middle East conflict to the facts, and keep it free of their personal opinions. The keynote speaker Ludwig Schneider (Jerusalem), who is the publisher of "News from Israel," criticized the biased picture the German media paints of Israel, [saying that] it is characterized by "Arab propaganda." He called for greater truthfulness, and thereby a base for greater solidarity with Israel. Greetings were conveyed by among others the CDU member of Parliament from Berlin Günter Nooke, and the great-nephew of Kaiser Wilhelm, Philip, prince of Prussia. The initiative "Germany on Israel's side" is a joint effort of Christian Israel organizations and societies under the leadership of "International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem" (ICEJ, in Stuttgart), "Christian Friends of Israel" (in Altensteig), and "The Bridge Berlin-Jerusalem" (Berlin). The chairman of ICEJ, Jürgen Bühler, saw a positive result from the demonstration. If the politicians of Germany want to realize the preamble of Germany's constitution, they must stand on the side of Israel. Only then will they fulfill the "responsibility before God and humanity." On Friday, the arrangers of the demonstration were received by Israel's ambassador to Berlin, Shimon Stein. Discord was created by a campaign to distribute leaflets by the Federal Association of Jewish Students in Germany (BJSD). The student association had already disturbed a campaign by Ludwig Schneider, since the journalist put himself behind "missionizing Jews." An accusation, the organizers of the demonstration rejected. Some of the participants said they felt hurt by the accusations. "We are to stand on Israel's side, and not to missionize," said a female demonstrator, who that morning had come in from Saxony. From Saxony alone came in spite of the flood ten buses full of people, who had paused from cleanup efforts a full day, to stand publicly on Israel's side. Under the headline "false friends are true enemies," the following was written: "The BJSD distances itself with every clarity from the initiators of this demonstration. The goal of most of the organizations that support this demonstration, is to missionize every Jew to believe in Jesus. Toward this goal they organize seminars, parties, and even distribute propaganda in synagogues. The right of Jews to exist is not recognized, unless they do not believe in Jesus, i.e. accept Christianity. We condemn at the sharpest such efforts. At the same time, we distance ourselves from the political orientation of the arrangement." The strange thing is this: The chair of
the BJSD, Viktoria Dolburd (Berlin), participated last fall in a seminar,
where representatives of Christian and Jewish groups together discussed
how the public work "pro Israel" could be strengthened.
